Style and Performance

Sports Car Style

Sports cars in general, are mostly about style and performance. This is why these types of cars lure so many drivers in the market.  Sports cars are head turners and usually look best in the color red.

Sports cars have power placed to its pavement across its rear wheels or on all of the four wheels.  The cars are principally constructed for the driver, although there are a few have rear seats.

The lure of sports cars demonstrate, as surveys show, that nearly sixty percent of young car drivers between the ages of seventeen and twenty, select a car based on appearance with  little consideration on its affordability.  Only seven percent base their selection on the cost of insurance cost and/or running condition and thirty percent base their selection solely on appearance.

While views greatly vary with regards to the sports car precise definition, the majority of sports cars come with two doors, two seats and are designed for tremendous acceleration, high speed, and of course, attractiveness.

Their attractive looks are that lure car drivers and enthusiasts, second only to the performance, surveys said.
Sports cars do not have much room capacity or may not be reasonable or economical. Passenger space and fuel cost-effectiveness are not generally the main considerations of an individual who is in the showroom ready to purchase an image-boosting vehicle.

The lure of a sports car is really all about impact and style; most say that sports cars are vehicles that after parking it and when walking away, there is that compelling force that makes one turn back  for another look at that handsome car.

While many sports cars fans were lured by its appearance, there are others attracted to its performance.  When a sports car entails superior road handling, performance and implementation compared to the standard passenger vehicle the sports cars have a more firm and tight- tuned suspension and efficient “steering system,”  improved aerodynamics, a transmission that is “out to perform”,  high-execution tires and a superior weight to power ratio.

These are the reasons why the sports car simply is a fun vehicle to drive and why it lures so many drivers.  A fabulous car such as a Range Rover or a Lexus may also be satisfying, a true sports car will give its driver immeasurable feeling of contentment that will place a lasting and satisfied smile on any drivers face.

The Fast Modernization of Sports Cars

Sports Car

Modernization of sports cars has been unstoppable. The concept of the sports car generated by Enzo Ferrari’s in 1929 was the beginning of the sports car industry. He was the one that lead the way for other car manufacturers to follow the design of the Ferrari sports car.

The great designs of the Ferrari are well known for their car racing success and the Ferrari is the most extravagant and successful racing team in the history of Formula One racing. Ferrari has produced cars that have fascinated the world with their versions of the sports car and have promoted drivers like Michael Schumacher and Alberto Ascari in the world-wide sport of car racing.

The F430 is the flagship of Ferrari. This sports car is a muscular two-seat coupe, which was reengineered last year. It has became the most sought after car this year because of its great performance and affordable price of $161,000 which is considerably lower in price then most cars in its class.

The most current release of the Ferrari is the Superamerica hardtop convertible, which is priced $300,000. It became the hottest seller when it was displayed in all showrooms of the Ferrari in the United States. It has an awesome yet powerful V-12 engine and the design of the transmission came from the F-1 version. The standard package on all models of the Ferrari contains transmission paddle shifters on the steering wheel.

The roof of the Superamerica makes it an awesome display of engineering and imaginative design. The roof is made from electro chromic glass and carbon fiber. The driver can change the setting of the car from the elegant coupe to a more exotic open-air sports car.

Because of the fast modernization of  Ferrari versions, the company has acquired ownership of the Maserati in 1997 - a long time competitor in the production of sports cars. Since then, it has boosted the sales of Maserati and modernized the production facilities of the company. It also started producing new models like the Quattroporte hardtop, which is priced at $95,000 and the Spyder GT convertible that is priced at   $83,000.

Ferrari is considered the super performance car. It made its mark on the sports car industry because of the extraordinary designs and modified engineering of their sports cars. There are also other car manufacturers that are still making names for themselves in the sports car industry. The Chevrolet Corvette and the Dodge Viper are also awesome in their designs. The Porsche Carr era can be compared to the Ferrari with its power and is even more expensive at $440,000.

Mileage per Gallon

sports Car Mileage

Sports cars are built for speed, not comfort. Some prefer to drive in the fast lane watching the other cars go by which makes these people go to a dealer and buy one. There are other reasons why a person will prefer to buy one brand over the other. This can be the appearance of the vehicle, the smart engine onboard, or how fast it can accelerate in less than 10 seconds.

With the price of fuel going up, people are more conservative about buying a sports car and one of the main questions that a customer will ask the sales person is how many miles per gallon of fuel does the car consume.

For comparison, 2 cars will be chosen and the figures given will be based on the records of the Department of Energy.

One car that is very well known throughout the world and is one of the best sports cars ever made is the 2003 BMW Z4 Roadster. This car uses premium gas and gets 20 miles per gallon for city driving and 28 miles per gallon on n the highway or an average of 23 miles per gallon.

Another good brand that is known worldwide is Jaguar. Its sports car, the 2004 Jaguar XK8, gets 18 miles per gallon in city driving conditions and 26 miles per gallon on the highway for an average of 21 miles per gallon.

As the figures show, one is able to use less gas in city driving conditions while the other performs better in the highway. The figures above are not definite since the fuel economy varies and is dependent on how the person drives the sports car.

There are many other sports cars in the market that one can compare before choosing the right vehicle to drive off the dealer’s lot. The deciding factor will then depend on a person’s preference.

The sports car is truly an amazing machine that will keep the driver and passenger on the edge of there seats at all times. Though there is not that much difference between these 2 sports cars, the gasoline mileage per gallon is an important factor that people will think about before choosing to buy one sports car over another.

Mazda MX-5 Miata

Mercedes Sports Car

The year 2006 offers several new sports car designs - from exterior body parts to more defined interiors.  One of the most sought after sports car to date is the efficient 2006 Saturn Ion - its enviable rust and dent proof body and added horsepower.  With its extra size, it has the combination of the Quad Coupe and 2003 Sedan, restyled with smart modernism and small back entrance doors.  The four-speed transmission was replaced by a five-speed automatic transmission.  The price could vary from $12,000 to less than $20,000 per car.

Next in line is the Mazda MX-5 Miata, which was introduced at $28,000 as the manufacturer’s suggested retail price.  It is reasonably priced, with a system built for key free entry, air conditioning, two seats, and a steering wheel wrapped in leather.  It has a six speed manual transmission, leather seats and optional sport suspension with 2.0-liter dual overhead cam and four-cylinder engine.  The space provided in the trunk is 5.3 cubic feet.  However, the lowered body and back tires are not devised for use during muddy or snowy seasons.

Here comes another American accomplishment legend - the Ford Mustang with its multi-valve overhead cam, which generates 300 horsepower.  This retro inspired modern car is more rapid and more responsive than it has ever been.  Available for about $21,000, it is well furnished in both convertible and coupe designs.  Fanatics can choose between automatic and manual transmission engines.  Tires are trendier at 18 inches... Since it has been introduced in 1964, the name Ford Mustang has competed with Firebird, Camaro, Barracuda, etc for more than 40 years, and is standing by its name.

For those who are looking for striking and lavish sky-scraping performance sports car, the Cadillac XLR is a better choice.  The approach is over-sensitive, sophisticated, dominant and unique with attractive interiors and a hardtop convertible that can go in and out in just thirty seconds.  It offers a resolute hold and superior handling in a fiery 320 horsepower engine.  It is even faster than Jaguar XK8, Mercedes SL500, and Lexus SC430 is a silent machine whether the convertible’s up or down.

These are just a few of the most infamous sports car this year.  Passionate drivers and collectors are just starting to do their own research and before long, these cars will either be sought for collectibles or for private use...  It is true that these sports cars are toys for the “big boys”.

Lexus Says LFA AD-A and AD-B are One-Off Prototypes and Not Special Editions

During the past couple of weeks, spy photographers and eagle-eyed individuals alike spotted two similar but visibly different Lexus LFA prototypes with the AD-A and AD-B monikers respectively undergoing tests in and around the Nürburgring in Germany.

Their bespoke styling parts and colors suggested that Lexus may be readying a handful of special edition versions of the LFA to mark the end of the supercar's production.

Well, as it turns out, that's not the case. In an email to the Lexus Enthusiast website, Etienne Plas, senior manager of product communications for Lexus Europe, said that the company does not plan to present any kind of special edition version of the LFA.

"These LFA units spotted at Nürburgring are one-off vehicles developed by the TMC technical division, and are currently being tested for technical purposes only," said Plas. "We have no plans to produce and sell any new special edition of the LFA."
